Originally from Ahmedabad, India, Dr. Mohamedyakub Puthawala immigrated to the United States in the early 1980s. He has served as Vice President of Masjid Al-Islam since its inception in 1994.
Following the passing of the founder, Dr. Mohamed Arif, he assumed the role of President and continues to lead the community with dedication and continuity.
Dr. Puthawala is a radiation oncologist and continues to treat patients at Rhode Island Hospital. He resides in Lincoln, Rhode Island, with his wife. They have two sons and five grandchildren.
